When you bought your new iPhone, you knew you could do a lot with it. But how many of you are actually taking advantage of all of the features that your iPhone offers? Yes, you can make a phone call, serve on the web, watch a movie, and listen to music with the touch of a button, but is that all there is to it?

Here are 6 tips for better use your iphone’s features:

1. Your iPhone can be used as a storage device

That’s right, besides just using it to store your songs, you can actually use your iPhone as a driver. Now, you can do this straight out of the box but there is software available that allows you to do this. The software runs for about $10 and your computer. The application is called iPhone drive. It is a small utility from a company called Ecamm Network. What the software does is displays the free storage area of an iPhone. The software is simple to use basically it is drag and drop. It is important to note that music files and photo files are not supported with this application. But it is great for the use of mass data storage.

2. Rebooting your iPhone

Have you had the experience yet where your iPhone freezes? basically, your iPhone is not responding to anything. Even when you try pushing the Home button your phone does nothing. What do you do? the first tip in this situation is to hold the on off button for 60 seconds. Your iPhone will try to quit the last application and free up the system. If that doesn’t work, trying pressing and holding both Home and On/Off; after about 10 seconds the Apple logo will appear. You should be good to go from here.

3. Free up space by eliminating previously viewed videos

It doesn’t really matter whether you have an 8 GB or a 16 GB iPhone the bottom line is it takes about 1 GB of storage to hold one movie. Now, that is a lot of space for just one piece of media. One of the neat things you can do with your iPhone is delete videos after you’ve finished watching them. All you have to do is tap a button and the last movie you just watched it will disappear off of your iPhone. It is as simple as that.

After you finish watching a movie, the iPhone will ask if you want to free up space by deleting it.

4. Create a home page in Safari

On your computer or laptop, it is easy to set your homepage with your Safari browser. All you have to do is go to the settings. You go to the General tab in preferences and type in the URL that you want and that’s it. Problem is you can’t do that with your iPhone. There is, however, a work around. If you place the URL that you want to be your home page in your bookmarks list then move it to the top of your list you can simulate your home page. Now, this is technically not a homepage preference, it does take an extra tap, but it still helps to streamline and make things more efficient.

5. Use the Favorites and Recents list for more than just phone calls

Now, the favorites setting is a collection of your most frequently called phone numbers, while the recent list is a collection of people who just called or whose calls you have missed. Now, there is more to those two features. Assuming that the phone numbers in the list came from a mobile phone, you can actually use the feature to text message. Just tap the forward arrow button next to the contact name or phone number and then tap the text message button at the bottom of the contact listing.

6. Save e-mail messages as drafts

If you want to save a message you’re working on so you can come back to it later, tap Cancel. When you Cancel the iPhone will not automatically deleted. It will ask you if you want to save, send, or cancel. Tap Save and the message is placed in your Drafts folder. If your account doesn’t currently have a Drafts folder, Mail will create one. Sometimes there is a delay in getting your drafts folder to show up. Just give your iPhone a few extra seconds and the folder will pop up.

Put these 6 tips to use and start taking advantage of all of the different features that you got when you bought your iPhone.

Are you looking for free downloads for your iPhone? If so, there are a few things to look for before downloading from any website that claims to have what you are looking for for free.

If you don’t already know, there are a few ways to get unlimited iphone downloads without purchasing them through iTunes. Below you will find 7 tips to finding the best iPhone download site.

1. What Is The Difference Between Free or Paid Sites?

There are problems with free music download services such as Limewire. These downloads can be infected with viruses. Truth be told, this happened to me twice – and the first time it happened, I ended up losing all of my files as a virus destroyed everything. Not only are these downloads illegal, you never know what you are actually going to get.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to get free downloads – after all, iTunes can get expensive at $.99 per song. Want 100 songs through iTunes? That will cost you $99.00. Screw that!

Luckily, there are legitimate iPhone download sites that offer a lifetime membership for a one time fee, usually less than $50.00. With that one-time fee, you’ll get a lifetime supply of legal downloads and you will not have to worry about viruses.

2. Look For An iPhone Download Site With A Gigantic Media Database

You know what kind of music you like. Go with a download site that offers multiple genres of music. There are a handful of sites that offer well over 100 million media files which include all the music you would ever want, TV shows, movies, and more.

3. You Will Want A Good Downloading Interface

This is pretty important. You’ll want something that is easy to navigate and simple to use. This will make it easy to search for what you want and keep your downloads organized. You can get an idea of what to expect by looking at the homepage of the iPhone download site that you are looking at. Does it look professional, or just thrown together?

4. Only Sign Up With A Service That Provides Free Transfer And Conversion Software

The high quality, professional download sites provide you with everything you need to not only download everything from music to movies, but include software to transfer these files to your iPhone without using iTunes. They will even give you free software to convert files to work on your iPhone. FOr example, if you rip a DVD from your collection, you can use the free conversion software to make it into a compatible format so you can watch it on your iPhone.

5. Look For Super Fast Download Speeds

This is also very important. You want fast downloads. Most music files are about 4 MB’s each. With a fast download service, you can download 30 songs at the same time and be finished in about 10 minutes. The download site I use I can download a 400 MB TV show in about 15 minutes.

6. Look For A Secure Downloading Experience

Only the good iPhone download sites provide you with a safe, secure environment with a high level of security when downloading your media. The last thing you should have to worry about is viruses, spyware, and other stuff that can do harm to both your computer and your iPhone.

7. Only Professional Sites Offer 24/7 Technical Support

Most downloading sites only want to make money. While they might claim to offer 24/7 support to make them look good, you’ll be left alone when you actually need it. Luckily, there are a handful of services that offer dedicated support when you need them.

With a good high quality iPhone download site, you can fill up your iPhone many times over with safe, legal music, movies, TV shows and more. You can’t go wrong – and you can say goodbye to iTunes forever!

In today’s world iPhone is one of the valuable and very useful and necessary item for everyone. As you all know 3G iPhone is out with a package full of features. Here are important tips for new 3G iPhone.

1. Tapping the iPhone Screen:
Double tap on the iPhone screen is pretty convenient for zooming in and zooming out images and text at a go. Most of us never cared to experiment or were too comfortable with the pinching in or out to do the same. Double tapping works equally well.

This is really cool if you want to view photos on the iPhone’s photo app, you can toggle between full screen mode and letterbox mode, just double tapping on the screen during video playback. Browsing is much more fun too as you can zoom in and zoom out the content with this double tapping trick.

2. How to reset iPhone, when it crashes:
Two options exist for resetting your iPhone:

a) Hold down the Home button for 5-6 seconds to force quit a crashed application.

b) Force a full shut down of your iPhone by holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake button.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to contact Apple or visit your local Apple dealer / Operator store

3. Want to save battery? Turn off your LCD:
To change the brightness of your iPhone LCD screen, go to Settings -> Brightness. Try running at 10 to 20% brightness as a good compromise between brightness and battery life.

4. Capture an image out of iphone screen:
Hold down the Home button with one hand and then press the Sleep/Wake button with the other. The iPhone will snap a picture of the screen and save it in your Camera Roll.
Then go and check Photos > Camera Roll.

5. Do you use location services? If not, turn them off:
Speed up your iPhone and conserve battery life if you don’t use Google Maps. To disable location services go to Settings > General > Location Services.

6. Want to delete email wit a quick swipe?
By swiping an email from left to right you will quickly delete that email message. Nice and quick hey? Use this to keep your inbox under control as most people do not.

7. Can I use other apps while on call?
You can access your iPhone’s main screen, and thus all of its applications, whilst on a call by pressing the Home button during a phone call to minimise the call screen. Tap the green bar at the top of the Home screen to return to your call.

8. Ever thought of disabling your 3g on your iphone?
This might sound strange but unless you need the speed of browsing the internet at 3G speeds instead of WiFi you can double your talk time from 5 hours to a whooping 10 hours!

To disable your 3G do the following:

a) Click on the Settings gear icon

b) Click on General

c) Click on Network

d) Slide the Enable 3G to OFF

9. Want to rearrange application icons?
To move an application icon, hold your finger down on an icon. The icons will then enter a ‘wiggle mode’, meaning that they’ll start to wiggle (you’ll see what I mean). Once they are wiggling, you will be able to drag them around or move them to another home screen page.

10. Don’t visit Flash website – Not working
No, there is nothing wrong with your phone. Unfortunately it seems that Apple’s iPhone still doesn’t support Adobe Flash, so you won’t be able to access these sites.
Best thing to do is make sure you let Apple know that you want an Adobe Flash plugin for the iPhone, so they actually get their act together and make it happen.

Nokia Aeon was presented by Nokia on their website in the Research & Development section. What is so great about this phone is that it looks like it will actually go into production next February. Of course, its just a rumor, but still, makes us hope to actually see it someday in the GSM shop. All we know about it for now is that its a touchscreen phone and it looks fantastic.

Nowadays, it’s hard to conduct your daily affairs without the help of a cell phone. A cell phone is a handy piece of technology that has expanded to include more than just calls and text messaging.

Unfortunately, buying a cell phone is a big task as your require considering many important factors, in order to buy the right cell phone. Here are some tips will help you buy a cell phone.

Budget

Consider the highest amount you’ll pay for brand-new cell phones. Now, include your estimated budget for your cell phone’s coverage for a year. Base your budget on your expenditures on your cell phone usage last year, and add 10% for inflation and other expenses such as repairs. You now have your estimated annual budget for your new cell phone unit as well as your cell phone usage.

Plan and Coverage

While phones that offer web browsing, video conference calls and global roaming sound wonderful, they also cost money. Since the type of phone you’re getting also depends on which network service you’re choosing, consider your phone usage patterns of the previous year. Do you take frequent trips outside the country? Are you often on the go and have a need to be connected to Internet to check your emails? Do you really need the option of having a video voice conference phone call? If you have honestly answered no to any of these, it’s safe to say that you will survive without these features and hence can settle on a simpler and more user-friendly cell phone unit.

Phone Features

Deciding on a brand and an operating system can help you or deter you from becoming used to your cell phone. Some people also use their cell phones as their own organizers and calendar, as well as to process documents, so consider what programs and features you will find useful. The weight, design type and screen should also be chosen not on how hi-tech they are, but how they will adapt to your lifestyle. Consider your usage before buying that impressive cell phone with the foldable keyboard.

Read Reviews

The Internet is a wonderful way to look up the user comments and reviews on the cell phone unit you’re deciding to buy. Some websites can also provide alternative phone brands and units for your needs and specifications.

Shop

Malls and cell phone shops are the most common places we shop for our cell phones, but you also have the option of going online or buying a secondhand phone. Shopping at malls can give you a good idea of the top price that you can compare later on. Shopping can also give you an opportunity to look for cheaper alternatives. Be careful with your transactions, and if you buy online, make sure that you are buying from a dealer of good repute.

Make sure use these tips to get a great cell phone without paying more than necessary.

Newest cell phones sometimes come from a open call submissions. In this year, Fujitsu did the submission. The results are futuristic (future) cell phones from some winners.

If you don’t know the cell phones, here they are:

1. Gesture

The phone was designed by South Korean student Jin-Gwon Go and to be used with just one hand and many commands can be carried out with just gestures, hence the name. Though it may not look particularly futuristic, it does look like the most user-friendly among the winners.

2. Soap

This phone for kids and designed by Yan. The idea of the phone was to promote the belief that cleanliness and health are intimately connected. It’s washable and designed to be washed when everyone returns home.

3. The Fold-a-Phone

The Fold-a-Phone from designers Hanna Sahlen and Sachiko Munakata does just what the name implies: it folds up. It’s made of a super-thin material that allows it to be folded down to a small size to be carried in a pocket or purse.

4. The Adjustick

The Adjustick from Izumi Tanaka won a special judge’s award, and it seems to be well deserved. This tiny little stick of a phone is very minimalistic, displaying only what is necessary. But when you lie it on its side, it projects a usable keyboard and screen so you can text in comfort.

5. The Chamelephone

The Chamelephone from Hiroyuki Tabuchi is one of our favorites, but it definitely falls into the “futuristic” category rather than “practical.” It’s designed to mimic the color and texture of whatever surface it’s placed on. We can’t find our phones now – this would make it utterly hopeless.

6. The F-Circle

The F-Circle was a crowd favorite because of its crazy retro-futuristic look. The designer, Yuji Ito, says that it’s a “timeless” design. We don’t know about timeless, but it is certainly different than every other cell phone on the market.

7. Kaora (Tile) Phone

Wataru Igarushi designed the KAORA (Tile) phone. It’s another that is miles away from conventional cell phones, but its design is well thought-out. It is meant to be one of the most user-friendly phones ever, with a customizable configuration that you can change depending on what functions you need the phone to perform.

8. The Amoeba Phone

The Amoeba Phone from Kwak Yeon takes the prize from us, even though it didn’t take honors from the judges. The entire surface is touchscreen-operated and the shape of the handset is meant to fit perfectly to the user’s face. It’s beautiful, but again we think we’d have troubles finding it in the morning.

Cell phones are device which important for anyone. In today’s world, a cell phone does much more than make calls. It can be an alarm clock, GPS unit, MP3 player, personal assistant, and provide the entire Internet in the palm of your hand. Obviously, cell phone technologies has been constantly changing to offer brand new cell phones. Unfortunately, the changing also provide a higher demand for cell phone reuse and recycling.

I tried to find more information about the cell phone development last night. I found a lot of information, and in this post I only inform 10 more interesting facts about cell phones.

1. The wireless telephone technologies are grouped under heads known as generations, starting from zero generation or 0G. The current generation going on is 4G; however, there are old cell phones (telefone celular) that still operate on 1G, 2G, and 3G technologies.

2. The impact of cell phone usage on human health has been of considerable worldwide concern. Research studies in Copenhagen, from the Danish Institute of Cancer Epidemiology, the National Cancer Institute, and the Institute of Cancer Research, do not establish any link between cancer and cell phone usage. However, an intergovernmental agency IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) forming part of the World Health Organization of the United Nations, undertook a study of 4,500 users and found a statistically significant link between cell phone usage and tumor frequency. Further research is going on.

3. Nokia Corporation is currently the world`s largest manufacturer of cell phones. Other notable cell phone manufacturers, in alphabetical order, are 3G, Audiovox (now UT Starcom), Benefon, BenQ-Siemens, Fujitsu, High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC), Kyocera, LG Mobile, Motorola, NEC, Panasonic (Matsushita Electric), Pantech Curitel, Philips, Research In Motion, Sagem, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp, Siemens, Sierra Wireless, SK Teletech, Sony Ericsson, T&A Alcatel, Toshiba, and Verizon.

4. The first practical cell phone in a non-vehicle setting, and which could be handheld, was invented by Martin Cooper, the General Manager (Communications Division) of Motorola, who made the world`s first handheld cell phone (telefone celular) call on April 3, 1973.

5. The power in a cell phone is obtained from rechargeable batteries, which can be recharged from the mains, a USB port or a cigarette lighter port in an automobile. Nickel Metal Hydride were the most common types of batteries, which due to the “memory effect” (the user can recharge only when the entire battery is drained off) were replaced by Lithium-Ion batteries, which did not suffer from any memory effect.

6. Cell phone coatings are often made of lead, and their lithium-ion batteries can explode if exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight, which are common conditions in landfills.

7. The world’s largest cell phone recycler, ReCellular, collects 25,000 cell phones daily from more than 40,000 collection sites.

8. Cell phone usage and driving is a common worldwide phenomenon. Some jurisdictions have banned usage of hand-held phones during driving, but allowed the hands-free fashion of cell phone usage while driving. However, studies have found out that the distraction is caused by the conversation itself; hence, both hand-held and hands-free cell phones contribute towards road traffic accidents. Further studies on cell phone usage and driving are going on.

9. The cell phone works depends on the mobile phone operator; however, all of them use electromagnetic radio waves, which are in touch with a cell site (base station). The base station is composed of several antennas which are mounted on a pole, tower, or building.

10. Cell phones obsolete could reach 100 million cell phones obsolete. In 2007, the recycling rate for the cell phones was just 10 percent.
